Jessica Reed, MS, RD
Founder, Registered Dietitian
As a registered dietitian, and the founder of Balance Health, Jessica is passionate about helping others achieve their health and wellness goals. With a master’s of science in nutrition and dietetics, she has worked in both clinical and wellness settings and has gained extensive experience providing inpatient and outpatient nutrition therapy. Jessica is well accustomed to working with all age groups and a wide range of medical conditions. Her clinical background extends from working in the rehabilitation unit of a skilled nursing facility to covering all levels of care at several hospitals.
While gaining clinical experience, Jessica always maintained a position to serve clients in the outpatient setting and quickly found this to be the niche she enjoyed most; working one-on-one with clients to help them achieve better health. With over 10 years of experience, Jessica strives to maintain her versatility and ability to meet the needs of a diverse patient population. She enjoys the program planning aspect of integrating her services into the outpatient clinic setting and has worked with several multidisciplinary teams treating a range of conditions including congestive heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, advanced heart failure with mechanical circulatory support, heart transplant, and bariatric surgery.
There is no doubt that diet and lifestyle play an imperative role in health, especially in relation to the onset and progression of chronic disease. Jessica aspires to develop an online wellness platform where certified professionals can provide preventive care. Her aim is to create a space where dietitians and other health professionals can work closely with clients providing the ongoing support they need to be successful. She believes implementing a more holistic approach to healthcare not only addresses the symptoms of disease, but also the underlying cause by empowering people to balance their health.
Emily Sylvester, RD
Registered Dietitian
Emily is a registered dietitian, a mom and a food enthusiast who loves to educate others on eating healthy with balance. She has worked in various clinical and community settings and has experience with organizing health fairs, establishing community-focused running/health groups, and giving presentations on proactive healthcare that reduces the risk for chronic diseases through nutrition. She has collaborated with different types of clinicians throughout her career to provide the best care for hospitalized patients and clients she sees on an outpatient basis.
Outpatient medical nutrition therapy has always been a passion for Emily because she enjoys working closely with clients to meet their goals while improving their overall health. She has additional training in obesity interventions for adults and has attended specialized seminars for diabetes support. Health plays such a vital role in our lives and by understanding the link between the food we put in our bodies and the prevention of chronic diseases we become empowered. It is exciting to see someone succeed and knowing that education and motivation played a role in their accomplishments, is rewarding. Emily feels strongly that when people invest in their own health they can live their best life.
Dr. Shannon Ritchey, PT, DPT
Owner of Evlo Fitness
Dr. Shannon Ritchey is a physical therapist and fitness instructor who created an online fitness platform, Evlo Fitness, designed to improve fitness with less joint wear and tear. She was inspired to create Evlo, because as a physical therapist, she noticed her most fit clients were also the most “broken down.” She wanted to create a way to get strong and fit from home in ways that minimize joint stress. Evlo offers new lifting, Pilates, low-impact cardio, and yoga classes each week that are short, structured, and effective.
We’re excited to endorse Evlo Fitness as an expert collaborator and a trusted resource for the fitness component of Balance Health. Evlo shares our belief in a sustainable lifestyle approach to wellness and is founded on science-based methods for safe and effective workouts. Dr. Ritchey uses neurology, physics, and anatomy principles to challenge unhealthy mindsets and trends around exercise. She provides in-depth education on proper form that allows you to get the most out of your workouts so that you can strengthen your body and improve your metabolic fitness. Her holistic approach goes against the norm of the fitness industry and will set you up to confidently continue your fitness routine for years to come.
We encourage you to follow Dr. Ritchey’s podcast “Fit Body, Happy Joints” where she answers many fitness related questions and provides encouragement toward building a sustainable exercise routine. For a free trial of her program, visit her website at evlofitness.com
